What is CPI?

CPI is the Consumer Price Index. This is a measure of the cost of living for the typical person.

What is Core CPI? Core Inflation = CPI - (energy + food prices)* *Energy and food prices are removed from the Core CPI calculation because they have a tendency to be highly volatile.
